PDCA Calf Sale 2011

The 63rd Annual PDCA Sale was held April 9, 2011, at the Round Barns at the University of Illinois, Urbana.

The top two selling heifer can both trace the pedigrees back to C Glenridge Citation Roxy. Mil-R-Mor Shottle Rhonda-ET, whose 4th dam is Roxy herself, was the top seller at $7,100. She was purchased by Mi-Luck Syndicate, Orangeville, Ill. Robert Miller, Orangeville, Ill., consigned the heifer.

Nabholz Destry Rave, consigned by Eddie Bue and purchased by Shelby Rose of Tremont, Ill., sold for $5,000. Her 7th dam is Roxy and she has 6 Very Good or Excellent dams before that.

Nate Jansen, Wauconda, Ill., consigned the third high seller at $4,000, Navs Atl Sarah-ET to Mackenzie Kimmel from Bloomington, Ill. Sarah is an Atlantic out of UFM-Dubs Shari-ET VG-87.

PDCA Calf Sale 2010

The 62nd Annual PDCA Calf Sale took place on April 10, 2010, at the historic Round Barns, University of Illinois, Urbana. 29 Holstein sold for an average of $1466.38 and grossing $42,525.

Topping the sale was Lot H22, Luck-E Advent Aloha-ET for $3,150. She was purchased by Dean Zierer, St. Charles, Ill., and consigned by Matt L. Engel, Hampshire, Ill. The December 2009 heifer is from Golfing Talent Amaze-ET EX-92. The next dam is Luck-E Blitz Alabama 2E-90. Alabama is a full sister to Luck-E Blitz Australia VG-87 who has sons in A.I. as well as embryos exported. The next five dams are all Very Good or Excellent including the 4th dam, Hart-Lyn Starbuck Ashley 2E-94. She was Grand Champion at the Illinois State Show in 1989,

Brite-Side Sanchez Lisette, sold to White Light Farm, Bloomdale, Ohio, for $3,100. She has an EX-90 maternal sister by Durham and VG-88 Outside maternal sister. Her dam is the Cow of the Year Nominee, Roblee Victor Lucy Liza 3E-92. Liza has to date 315,039 lbs. milk, 12,071 lbs. fat and 9322 lbs. protein. Lissete was consigned by Oertel Farms, Brighton, Ill.

Also stricking off for $3,100 was Golden-Oaks Gldwn Repeat-ET, consigned by Golden Oaks Farm, Wauconda, Ill. She was purchased by Jason Oertel, Brighton, Ill. Repeat was a fancy September 2009 Goldwyn daughter with a +1860 PTPI. Her dam was a VG-86 Durham then Pfaffs Gibson Rally 2E-94. Rally was the HM All-American Sr. 2-yr-old in 2005. The next six dams are all Excellent, tracing back to C Glenridge Citation Roxy 4E-97 GMD.

Lot H16, Mil-R-Mor Affirmed Reva, sold to Emily Irwin of Belvidere, Ill., for $3,000. Robert Miller, Orangeville, Ill., consigned the potential 15th generation Excellent from the only 15 generation Excellent cow family in the world. Her dam is an Excellent Duplex then Astrahoe SG Rosa Reno-ET 2E-91. Reno has 11 Excellent maternal sisters. The family traces all the back to Audrey Posch 2E-93 GMD.

The 61st Annual Illinois PDCA Calf Sale truly was held at the Round Barns at the University of Illinois in Urbana on April 11, 2009. Twenty-two Registered Holsteins crossed the auction block grossing $62,225 with a solid average of $2,828.40.

Topping the sale at $7,900 was Rolling-Lawns Ripple-ET, consigned by Michael and Neal Turley, Greenville, Ill. Ripple is a September 2008 Comestar Outside daughter from Rolling-Lawns Rhythm-ET, EX-91. Her grandam, Mil-R-Mor Lee Reyda-ET, EX-92, was purchased by the Turley family in the 2000 Illinois PDCA Calf Sale from Bob Miller, Orangeville, Ill. Ripple is a potential 11th generation Very Good or Excellent from the Roxy family. Bob Miller of Mil-R-Mor purchased the heifer.

Second high seller of the day was Holbric MilRMor Addy-ET, who sold for $7,300 to Matrix Show Cattle and Bedrock Holsteins, Orangeville, Ill. Addy is a member of the renowned 1,000,000 lbs. milk and 17 multiple E’s club. Her closest four dams garner these credentials! Her dam alone is 4E-94 with over 300,000 lbs. milk in six lactations. Addy was consigned by Brian and Mark Olbrich, Harvard, Ill., and Bob Miller.
Auctioneering the sale was Creighton Barker of Orangeville, Ill., and different breed representatives served as ringman and pedgiree men. Thank you to all the volunteers!

The Illinois PDCA Calf sale is managed by the Illinois PDCA with help from the students of the Illini Dairy Club. Club members work the week of the sale helping with cattle and ring preparation. Portions of the sale’s goes towards scholarships and awards for club members.

PDCA Calf Sale 2008

The 60h Annual Illinois PDCA Calf Sale truly was a memorable event. Held at the Round Barns at the University of Illinois in Urbana on March 29, 2008, a new record price for high selling female was set for the second year in a row.

Mil-R-Mor Abyann, a September 2007 Dundee heifer had a long list of credentials that matched her selling price of $12,500. She was consigned by Brian and Mark Olbrich, Harvard, and Bob Miller, Orangeville. Ron Mikulice and Valerie Greco, Orangeville, purchased the heifer.

The Holstein sale carried a solid average of $2,716 on 25 lots with a total gross of $67,900. The sale was managed by the Illinois PDCA in conjunction with the Illini Dairy Club. Creighton Barker served as auctioneer of the sale and Jerry Gaffner read Holstein pedigrees.
