Illinois Holstein Dutchess Contestants
Morgan Bollech, Tri-County Holstein Club
Morgan Bollech is the 16-year-old daughter of Keith and Carolyn Bollech of Kingston, Ill. Morgan is a member of the Tri-County Holstein Club. She will be a junior at Genoa-Kingston High School this fall.
Morgan currently serves as the secretary for the Tri-County Junior Holstein Club as well as the Treasurer for the Illinois Junior Holstein Association. During Spring Thing 2011, Morgan placed 1st in the jeopardy contest and was a member of the 1st place Senior team. She went on to compete at the National Convention in Virginia where she received 4th place in Jeopardy. At the 2010 National Convention Morgan placed 3rd in the public speaking contest. She also received the Kyle Mitchell Top Dairy Bowl Award at Spring Thing that year. Morgan looks forward to being a part of the State 4-H Quiz Bowl Team and competing at NAILE in Louisville this fall.
Morgan spends her summer showing her Holsteins at the county fairs. Morgan loves to fit the family animals for the show and talking to people about the dairy industry. She also helps out her grandparents, John & Shirley Kriegel, with everything from side raking hay to unloading hay to milking cows. Morgan enjoys going along with her uncle and learning from Team Holsteins.
She is involved in many clubs and activities. She is Vice President and a very active member of her FFA chapter. Morgan is the Vice President of her 4-H club and was named a Kane County Top Teen through involvement in the 4-H over the past 7 years. She is the President of her school's FCCLA chapter. Morgan is the captain of both GKHS's Academic Bowl team and Future Problem Solver's team and recently competed at the International level as an individual. She is a member of band and has played softball for 8 years.
Currently, Morgan owns 8 registered Holsteins and is a lifetime consumer of dairy products, especially ice cream.
Amy Schaufelberger, Gateway Holstein Club
Amy Schaufelberger is the 21 year old daughter of Boyd and Sandy Schaufelberger of Greenville, Illinois. Amy is a member of the Gateway Holstein Club and the Illinois Junior Association. She will be a senior at University of Illinois this fall where she is majoring in Agricultural Communications with a minor in
In high school Amy was very involved in FFA and 4-H. She has developed and exhibited many class winners and champion while showing her Holstein dairy cattle on the local, state and national level. In addition Amy has won recognition in numerous showmanship competitions including the Illinois State Fair Junior Show Supreme Dairy Showmanship Award and the Illinois Championship Junior Show’s Girl Showmanship Contest. She was a member of the Illinois state 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Team and was 7th placed high individual at the National carrying her team to 4th place finish. Amy also had the Reserve Bred and Owned Champion of the Illinois Junior Holstein Show in 2010.
At the University of Illinois Amy is a member of 4-H House, Ag Communicators of Tomorrow Club, Alpha Zeta, the Student Advancement Committee and the Illini Dairy Club. She served as Illini Pipeline Editor and is assisting in that role again this year. She is a member of the Illini Dairy Judging Team and she has traveled with Spring Break Trip groups to Ireland and Arizona.
Amy was named the very first recipient of the Allen Tucker Memorial Scholarship in recognition of her involvement, character and leadership in the Illinois Junior Holstein Association.
Amy owns 30 Registered Holsteins and her favorite dairy food is chocolate milk.
Little Miss Holstein ContestantsMegan Busker, Northwest Holstein Club
Megan Elizabeth Busker is the six-year-old daughter of Tim and Jennifer Busker. Megan will be in second grade in the fall. Megan is a 4-H Clover Bud member of the Country Cuzins 4-H Club. She enjoys being outside on the farm helping milk and feeding calves at Meier Meadows. Magen loves getting animals ready for the show and the excitement during the show. She is a past winner of the mini-showmanship contest at the Northwest IL District Show. She participates in Sunday School and likes to swim, craft and scrapbook.
Lila Sloan, Northwest Holstein Club
Lila Sloan is the six-year-old daughter of Tim and Angi Litow and Matt Sloan. Lila will be in second grade this fall. She loves playing softball, cheerleading, drawing, showing cows and horses and helping her grandparents with chores and around their farms. Lila enjoys helping her mom with the Clearfield show calves especially breaking her calf Alley to lead this year and learning EVERYTHING about her. Lila was the 2010 and 2011 Champion Mini Showmanship winner at the Northwest IL District shows. This fall Lila will be donating her hair to Locks of Love.
