Clinton County Classic 2011
The 37th Clinton County Classic Sale was held March 26, 2011, at the Clinton County Fairgrounds, Carlyle, Ill. The sale averaged $2490 on 105 live lots.

Topping the sale was Gahms Asteroid Tyra, a September 2010 heifer. Her dam is a VG-85 Goldwyn and grandam is EX-91 GMD DOM Magna. Her next dam is Ricecrest Terry Tori-ET, EX-93 2E GMD DOM. She was consigned by Daryld Gahm, Mt. Carrol, Ill., and purchased by Bob Spears of Farmington, Ark., for $5600.
Second high seller was Howardviewwg ATW Lucky-ET, selling for $5100 to Tom Kestell in Waldo, Wis. Her dam is Savage-View Lavisha-ET, VG-89. Her grandam is the 2006 H.M. All-American 5-year-old, Savage-Leigh Licorice-ET, EX-92 GMD DOM. She was consigned by Ludwig Farms, Fithian, Ill.
Gladtime-Lal CF Persis was the third high selling at $5000. Her dam is an EX-92 September Storm out of the All-American clone Vankyk-K Integ Paradise 2-ETN EX-92. She was consigned by Jerry Smith, Davis, Ill., and purchased by Richard Jordan of Boise, Idaho.

The latest edition of the Clinton County Classic took place on March 20, 2010, in Carlyle, Ill. The sale averaged $2,730 on 83 live lots and choices. Animals were sold to nine states and Germany.
High selling lot was Lot #1, a first choice AltaRoss from Larcrest Chessa, a Lylehaven Lightning daughter of Larcrest Crimson VG-88 DOM, the former #1 GTPI Cow in the nation. The choice was struck off for $12,000 to Matt Hamlet of Arlington, Iowa, and was consigned by Jerry Gaffner of Greenville, Ill.
This is the first granddaughter of Crimson to be sold at public auction. Crimson is a Ramos daughter of the former #1 CTPI Cow in the nation, Larcrest Cosmopolitan VG-87 DOM.
Selling for $7,200 to Greg Lambert, Wis., was a 1st Choice Goldwyn or Atwood from Golden-Oaks Champ Rae-ET. The choice was consigned by Golden Oaks Farm, Wauconda, Ill.
Champ Rae is the EX-92 Champion daughter of Scientific Beauty Rae-ET EX-90 DOM, tracing her roots to the Roxy family.
Free-State Durham Feliz-ET a potential 10th generation Excellent, was the high selling live animal at $6200. She was purchased by Jeff Purrung, Fla., and consigned by Brian TerHaar, Fulton, Mo. The 3-yr-old was due in April to Lightning. Her dam is the Jr. All-Illinois 125,000 lb. cow in 2009, Free-State Encore Fancy Gay EX-94 2E.
Clinton County Classic 2009
The 2009 edition of the Clinton County Classic took place on March 21st in Carlyle, IL. The latest and most up-to-date sale average is $2,947 on 68 live animals. Leading the way and selling for $6,500 was Lot 31 - Golden-Oaks Bax Marlee-ET. This May '08 Baxter daughter is from the VG-86 2yr Goldwyn, Luncrest Machree-1093-ET. She is a full sister to Luncrest BWM Mischief 883 (EX-90 90-MS), a pedigree that traces back to Col-Ray Barrett Mary (2E-93 GMD DOM). Marlee will now make her home in Vandalia, IL as she was purchased by Ben Willenborg. She was the consignment of Golden Oaks Farm, Wauconda, IL.
The second high selling lot at $5,000 was the 1st Choice Female from 7 Goldwyn transfers of Neu-Way Shottle Cali-ET (VG-87 @ 2-06). Cali's 1/09 CTPI is an impressive +2172M with PTA's of +3004M +98F +89P +3.66T +2.62UDC +3/35FLC. She is a Shottle daughter of Poly-Kow BW Marsh Cali (VG-87) and then 7 generations of VG or EX dams from Ricecrest breeding. The choice was the consignment of Dennis Neuhas, Noyletown, IL, and was purchased by Gordon Lamb of Oakfield Corners Dairy in Oakfield, NY.

The 2008 Clinton County Classic Sale was held March 15 at the Clinton County Fairgrounds in Carlyle, and once again raised the bar for the series as the 94 live lots crossing the auction block averaged $3538.30, with the total sale grossing $354,975.
Purchasing the top consignment was Rodney Huels of Carlyle, Ill., for $12,600. Horstyle MyKinda-Red-ET was consigned by Darwin Horst, Chambersburg, Pa., was a fancy RED December 2007 Talent daughter backed by 7 generations of Excellent or Very Good dams. Her dam is an Excellent BW Marshall with over 40,000 lbs. milk on her last lactation.
The sale was sponsored by the Clinton County and Gateway Holstein Clubs with Bob Fruend, Mike Netemeyer, Lester Huels and Jason Oertel. Jason Lamoreaux served as auctioneer and Larry Kleiner read pedigrees.
